Section 2: Policy Makers
Intelligence personnel, members of the Executive Branch, and Congress interact with regard to intelligence operations. Sometimes these interactions are in the public view but other times they are not. Regardless of whether public scrutiny occurs, the interaction of these various elements of the government is critical in ensuring the security of the nation.

Assignment 4   Politicization of Intelligence
Politicization of intelligence takes place when a message is skewed when delivered and the result is poor intelligence. Intelligence collectors, members of the Executive Branch, and Congressional oversight committees have conflicting but complementary roles to carry out in order to ensure that successful intelligence operations occur.

Compare and contrast the roles of policy makers, Executive Branch oversight, and Congressional oversight.

In a paper, you will accomplish this Activity by

Assessing the impact of U.S. law on the conduct of intelligence operations.
Comparing and contrasting the roles of government agencies in the collection and analysis of intelligence.
Discussing the effects of the operational environment in which intelligence operations are conducted.
Summarizing the impact of commission recommendations on reform of the U.S. intelligence community.
Support your paper with at least five (5) scholarly or professional resources. In addition to these specified resources, other appropriate scholarly resources, including older articles, may be included.

Length: 5-7 pages not including title and reference pages

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts that are presented in the course and provide new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic.
