Policing and law enforcement responsibilities are carried out by personnel in a variety of law enforcement agencies at local, state, and federal levels of government. Depending on the type of crime committed and where, a particular agency will have the responsibility, authority, and jurisdiction for solving the crime and carrying out the law enforcement elements of the criminal justice process. No matter which agency or level is accountable, all have responsibility for taking ethical and diversity concerns into account as they carry out their duties.

Examine the listings of law enforcement agencies and select one on the federal, state, and local levels.

Compare one similarity and one difference among each agency that you selected in terms of their responsibilities, jurisdiction, and authority. Be specific and provide examples.
