Application: Legislative Agenda
Imagine you are on a game show in which you have the opportunity to enter a money booth with bills of various denominations floating in the air. You are given 1 minute to grab as many bills as you can and shove them in your pockets. This metaphor, in some ways, represents the way private problems come to the attention of legislators. At any point in time, a number of private problems are in the public eye. Legislators must decide which of these private problems are worth their attention. In this Application, you consider whether or not a particular private problem should be placed on the legislative agenda and the steps that you might take to have it placed there.
The assignment (1–2 pages): Due by Sunday 7/26/15.
Describe a private problem you think has public policy implications and explain why.
Provide a rationale for why the problem should be on the legislative agenda
Explain the steps you would take to make the private problem part of the formal agenda for the next legislative session.
