By Tuesday June 30, 2015, complete the assignment and submit it to the W4 Assignment 2 Dropbox.

This week, submit your final 3–5-page research paper. Your paper should have an introductory paragraph with a thesis statement as the last sentence in the paragraph, several well-organized supporting paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph that sums of the main points of your paper and demonstrates to your reader that the thesis has been proven.

  • Revisit your Week 1 work: you selected a theme of early US history. Does your paper still support this theme? Consider how you are capturing perspective, proportion, and context of your theme over this period of history. Make sure you’re closing the gaps—don’t spend so much time on a small area of interest that you overlook a major historical event that supports your theme.
  • Revisit your Week 2 work: you wrote your introduction for your paper—be sure that the thesis statement of your introduction is still strong enough to support your theme (for more on writing a strong thesis statement, click here). The outline you wrote should help you construct a strong body of paragraphs. You also formatted your references in APA format. Be sure that your final list of references is formatted properly.
  • Write a conclusion that summarizes your findings and ideas. Your conclusion must state why you think your chosen theme was repeating in early US history. You can also state why it is important in the study of history to explore this theme.

Summary of Guidelines for Formatting

  • The paper should be an MS Word document that is three to five pages in length, double spaced in 12-point font.
  • There should be an introduction paragraph with a thesis statement.
  • Separate paragraphs should amplify separate, chronological events or concepts in early US history and their relation to your theme. Be sure to point out how the theme remained the same and/or changed over the time period in question.
  • The paper should end with a strong conclusion that ties together the information found regarding the theme and discusses why the theme perpetuates over time.
  • References should be listed on a separate page in APA format.
