In this assignment, you will create a 4-6 page research paper summarizing the field of construction law.  Your paper should include the following items:

• Provide an overview of the court system as a whole and the role it plays within the construction industry. 
• Discuss the pros and cons of litigation from the viewpoint of a project manager or general contractor. 
• Compare and contrast the different types of contract documents, contractual relationships and legal entities.  Discuss how these different contracts affect construction projects before, during, and after actual construction. 
• Explore the role of labor unions and discuss how the law affects them directly. 
• Analyze how plans/specifications help to determine liability and how this is enforced. 
• Explain how project changes and additions are handled legally.
• Provide a plan for handling delays associated with construction projects and explore the use of liquidated damages.
• Discuss in detail the topics of contract breach, tort and dispute resolution. 
• Explore the application of laws to bidding and negotiating practices as well as pricing in general.
