Option 1

Choose two of the following speech clips.

Listen to each speech, without watching the video portions, and note the main points and emphases of the speeches. Then, listen to each of them again while watching the video. Compare and contrast how the messages of these two speeches are conveyed with the addition of the visual element. Do not forget to mention which videos you watched.

Option 2

What is the difference between a general purpose and a specific purpose? How can writing a clear, specific purpose help you put together a more effective speech?

Option 3

Choose two of the following speech clips.

How would you word the specific purposes for each of those clips? How well do you think each speaker met his or her specific purpose? Do not forget to identify which clips you are using.
