Personality Test Reflection
Objective:
The purpose of this experiment is for you to reflect about the accuracy of personality tests and their use in organizations for personnel selection.
Instructions:
1. Take the BIG 5 Personality test.
2. Rank the relative strength of your five traits, ranging from 1-5 on each. This should reveal that some traits are “more like me” than others.
3. Keep this profile private and conduct the following personal experiment.
4. Jot down your answer to this question: What sort of person am I?
5. Then seek a few moments with at least three people who know you, preferably a fellow student, a co-worker, a family member or friend, even a boss or teacher. Tell these persons individually you are studying how personality works in forming relationships important to keeping an organization running well.
6. Tell them you seek candid feedback on this question: What sort of person do you think I am?
7. Then, compare these impressions with the Big Five Personality Assessment results and answer the following questions:
a. Do others see me in ways predicted by my self-assessment scores?
b. How do my self-perceptions compare with both the assessment profile and what these people have said about me?
c. Has my personality affected my work performance?
8. Upload your responses to those questions on the assignment drop box in Blackboard. Keep each answer between 50 and 150 words long.
