please respond to my classmate work (follow the guided in RED) 100 word (PROF_TOMMY)
Guided Response: First review several of your classmates’ posts. As a colleague, constructively critique at least two of your classmates’ plans, and provide suggestions for improving their approach. Where needed, don’t be afraid to offer suggestions for scaffolding their approach to what you would think is an appropriate level of English language learner instruction.
What would you need from the teacher to make input comprehensible?
In the video the instructor suggests making some posters that can be used to kind of prompt students who are stuck or may not know what to say or speak about ( Teach a Language- Tips & How to. (2009, December 7). In my opinion this would be a great way for me to start conversations. I would definitely be one of the more introverted students so at times I may need a little push to make me feel comfortable.
What could the teacher do to scaffold lessons for you?
If the teacher were to scaffold lessons for me I would need the teacher to cooperate with me until I became comfortable communicating with the rest of the class, especially the students who already speak English fluently. Maybe an approach with more course work to start off my learning experience would benefit me more rather than jumping in and making me communicate with all of the students or being put on the spot. Another way that the teacher could scaffold lessons for me would be to keep a chart to see my progress. To me this would be a motivator to keep me wanting to learn and keep pushing, especially if I could see my progress.
How can the teacher effectively lower the affective filter for you while still creating positive anxiety?
As stated in the video, a comfortable room is absolutely important and I agree with this. I also think that a lot of positive reinforcement is so very important because it shows the student that they are correctly completing lessons and learning. My biggest anxiety would be that I was doing it all wrong so positive reinforcement when I was doing it right would be helpful.
