Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts and respond to at least two of them. What advice would you give this student if he/she encounters skepticism from community members? How can teachers help bridge the community and the school?

I really consider my city and community a very large melting pot. However even though there are so many different cultures that exist I feel that it would be very beneficial for there to be a consistent flow of events that introduces alot of the cultures to the city. I had a discussion with a friend and stated I could really go for bulgogi (a very delicious Korean dish) and he looked at me weird and told me to stick to what I know. It's responses like that that could be easily changed if there were mini multicultural events throughout the city all year. It's important to have such events so that the youth are more open to trying new things and exploring different cultures. We live in a time now where it's very beneficial not only to speak your native language but to also be able to speak another fluently as well. It's very important to have these activities in our schools especially at a young age so when a new culture is introduced to children then they'll be more compassionate and welcoming to that culture.
