Choose one of your group members' resume/cover letter packets to review, then write a 500-700 word memo explained why you believe this candidate does or does not qualify for a formal interview.

 

 

NOTE: Do not submit your resume or cover letter to the assignment folder; you will be graded solely on the quality of your evaluation memo, which is a typical writing task required of managers and supervisors in the workplace. 

 

Grading Criteria:

 

  • Appropriate memo format – to, from, date, subject, and single spaced with double spacing between paragraphs; recipient and sender are identified by both name and title; each section is identified by a clear heading
  • Documents all strengths and weaknesses of the candidate
  • Strengths section is well developed
  • Areas needing improvement section is well developed
  • Recommendations section is well developed
  • Focuses on the information needs of the audience
  • Positive, confident tone
  • Emphatic, concise, fluent sentences
  • No proofreading errors
