If a physician and nurse are discussing, a patient medical information in a crowded hospital cafeteria, would this be consider a HIPPA violation?  Explain why or Why not?

If a co-worker has been quite open about her health issues in the office. She is also a patient here. Does discussion of her health issues in the office violate HIPAA?

Can you think of other security measures that can validated that the person on the other end of the phone is the actual individual when comes to patient information?

Or do you believe that certain patient information should not be allowed to discuss over the phone when come to the HIPPA law?
