In lieu of an assignment to email to me this week, I am posting a three part discussion.

1. I'd like you to look into something that you bought recently. Perhaps it is a new cell phone or piece of clothing or even a food item. Try to see if you can find out where the components came from? Where was it made? Consider the manufacturing process- what kind of non-renewable resources did this require, and what manufacturing process was required, with what types of wastes produced? Think about any externalities that might have been involved.

2. I'd appreciate your comments and thoughts after watching the clip "the Story of Stuff" which is embedded in Module 1.

3. I'd also like you to watch the movie: The Lightbulb Conspiracy. This can be found at
http://documentaryheaven.com/the-lightbulb-conspiracy/
However, there are some sections that need subtitles, so you might be better following the link below (as this link provides English subtitles for the short sections that they are needed)

.
(This link can be found in the comments if you go to the documentary heaven website- there you can just click on it).

What are your thoughts after watching this movie? What surprised you? Did anything concern you?
This material should be posted by 10pm this Sunday.
Thanks
