Everyone:

I want to welcome you all once again to the course. I think this will be really interesting, and I hope you all enjoy it. That said, the first week is always a little intimidating, so I want you to know that I'm on hand to help in any way I can. Don't be scared even if it seems tough; you are here to learn and that is what I want. And as long as you try you will be okay.

In the discussion board for Week 1 Assignment 2 you'll find a sample written by one of my past students. I've posted it for you to look over.

When writing your own, pay attention for a few things in the reading (ten pages from Plato's Phaedo).

What is said about the fear of death?
Life and death are opposites. So are hot and cold, night and day. Socrates finds this comforting.
Is Socrates afraid to die?
What does Socrates think will happen after he dies?

Try and give me a good answer to each of these questions and you'll do okay.

As for format, here's what I want:

2-3 pages doublespaced (after APA formatting but not counting title page, etc.), in Arial 12 font is perfect.

Also you don't need to attach a document; just submit the text directly in the window.
