I'm a huge fan of Categorical Syllogism. No, that's not the name of an '80s punk rock band (though it would be a cool name); rather, it's a type of deductive argument.  The categorical syllogism uses two premises to draw (i.e., deduce) a conclusion. It goes like this:

Premise 1: If A, then B.

Premise 2: If B, then C.

Conclusion:  If A, then C.

Assuming that each "If __, then ___" statement is true, then the conclusion necessarily follows and is true.
