SnelsonFor your Discussion Forum this week, you might want to consider the following questions raised by William James's pragmatism.
1.) What does James mean by saying that philosophy should be about becomming better adjusted to the world, rather than about revealing the truth? What do you think is the porpose of philosophical inquiry?
2.) Consider James' distinctions between the tough-minded and the tender-minded and between the healthy-minded and the morbid-minded. Do you know people who fall into any of these categories?
3.) What does James mean by the heroic life? What is the role of education and philosophy in that kind of life?
