In the criticism of psychological egoism, we said the psychological egoist claims her position is an empirical truth (everyone always seeks his or her own selfish interests). But that doesnt work as an empirical claim, the criticism goes; it is actually a self-sealing, definitional claim, because the psychological egoist cannot tell what would count against. Is that a legitimate criticism? Could a psychological egoistgive an example of what selfless behaviour would be like?

Suppose two terrorist groups make similar attacks against similar targets: both destroy office buildings containing government and military offices, along with civilian offices, and both attacks kill government officials, military officiers, and civillians. One attack is aimed at a brutal occupying regime that is carrying out mass murder, while the latter attack is aimed at an occupying regime following more humane practices. On your view, might the former attack be justified while the latter is wrong? Or must they be considered morally equal, because both invovle the killing on innocents?
