write a 5-10 page essay explaining what each thinker we have studied (Sophocles, Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Leibniz and Kant) has to say about the power of human reason and the extent of its reach.  To answer this question, you might begin asking yourself:  What is reason capable of helping us know and what does it do for our lives?  What are its limitations?  What thinkers have similar views?   Which thinkers are pessimistic about its power?  Which one’s are more optimistic?  What do they say about the role of hypothesis?
