Preparation

Beforestarting,youshouldmakesureyouunderstand thedifferencebetweenthisandother assignments.The focushereisonassessingyourskillsandcompetenciesformanagingandplanning todeveloptheminthefuture.Thisrequiresunderstandingwhatmanagementinvolves(howitis definedandunderstood inacademicwriting),whatyoucurrently thinkofyourskillsandabilities,and how you could develop theminthefuture.

Inacriticalessayyouareaskedtopresentyourviewpointandtoargue forit. Thismeans giving evidenceorjustificationforyourconclusions,andbeingclearwheretheevidenceorarguments are uncertain or raisefurtherquestions.

NOTE:Youshoulddrawonlearningfromthetextandclassactivities,discussionswithothers,and relevantacademicreferences.

Include thefollowingsections:

1)  An Introductionstating the structure ofyour essay(about300words).

2)  Abriefreviewofrelevantliteraturetoshowyourunderstandingofhowpersonalityshapesa manager’seffectivenessintheworkplace(about1,000wordscitingatleast10non-textbook references inadditiontothetextbook).

3)  Anevaluationofhowyourpersonalityimpactsonyourskillsandcompetencesformanaging yourselfand others(about500words), including:

a.  Ananalysisofyourskillsandcompetences relevantto management andyourMBTI questionnaireresults. Thinkcriticallyaboutthe results.Detailedresultscangoinan Appendix.

4)Aplanforyourmanagementdevelopment,specifyingyour goals(usingtheSMARTgoals framework),skillsorcompetencesyouwillfocuson,howandwhenyouwilllearnthem,and

how youwill know you have learned them (about700 words).

5)  A Conclusion (about 250words).

6)  A Reference list (not included in wordcount).

7)  AnyAppendices (not included in wordcount).
