Parental Substance Abuse and the Result on Family Function

Marriage and Family Relations Course:
The term paper should review the literature on how a particular issue or problem is related to family functioning.  The paper should discuss how the problem or issue impacts the family and how family functioning affects the course or severity of the problem.  Finally, the paper should discuss the types of family policies or services that can ameliorate the particular problem or issue.  The paper will be evaluated on both content and writing style.  The student should be careful to acknowledge the work of others and cite all sources in the text.  School policies concerning plagiarism will be strictly followed. 

The paper should be approximately ten typed, double-spaced pages, not including abstract and reference list.  The refernce list can utilize magazine articles, self-help books, and personal einterviews but must include a minimum of eight references from academic journals.  Acceptable references would include articles from such journals as American Journal of Orthopsychiatry, American Psychologist, Family Process, Journal of Abnormal Psychology, etc.  Readings from the internet do not count as academic articles unless the internet wesite contains the entire copy of an article published in an academic journal.  The reference list should also follow an officially recognized format such as the one provided by the Publication manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed, 2009).  Please use APA format
