EXPERIMENTAL METHODS
Experimental procedure
Pressure transducer calibration
i. The pressure transducer was connection as follows;
a. The electrical parts of the transducer, figure 1, were sealed to prevent damage to the internal components.
b. The transducer was attached to the standard pipe fitting
c. Cable connections were made to be firm
ii. The water column height was made to be 90 inch
iii. Data was collected at intervals of 5 inch as water column height went down
iv. The data was collected and was used to plot a graph of voltage versus height as well as voltage versus pressure.
v. LABVIEW program was created to measure the pressure drop from the pressure transducer
The flow meter measurement test
i. The flow rate was set up to be 5 gpm
ii. The mas of the empty bucket was measured and recorded
iii. The flow was run for 2 minutes and then was stopped
iv. The mass of the bucket with water was measured and recorded
v. The mass of the water was obtained by subtracting the mass of the empty bucket from the mass of bucket with water
vi. The experiment was repeated three times
vii. The experiment was repeated for flow rate 10 gpm and run time of 1 minute
