OSHA Standards D
The exit access and emergency preparedness standards evolved as a result of a number of tragic workplace fires that have occurred during past decades. The National Safety Council (NSC) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) did a lot of the early work to develop these standards.
Discuss the extent to which you think the existing OSHA standards related to life safety help to keep workplaces safe. Given the NFPA’s role and the role of local Fire Marshals, should OSHA even be getting involved in this area? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages to having OSHA involved?
