Organizational problem summary and problem statement

You will select an organizational problem that will be the central topic for your proposed MGT 8800 independent study project.  You will then prepare and submit a written summary describing your selected organizational problem and a brief problem statement.  The written summary will eventually be integrated into the introduction section of your research proposal.  Your summary will include each of the following elements:

• Description of the selected problem
• Description of the organization being adversely affected by the problem
• Description of the manner is which the organization is being adversely affected by the problem
• Description of the perceived benefits for the organization associated with potentially solving the problem

The problem statement is a brief, definitive statement of a specific problem that you hope to solve as a result of conducting your research.  It should be clear, concise, definitive, unambiguous and readily understood by anyone who reads it.

Your summary and problem statement will comply with the following general formatting requirements:

• Minimum of one (1) full page in length
• Maximum of two (2) pages in length
• Typed using a 12-point Times New Roman or Courier font
• Double-spaced throughout entire paper
• Use a one and one-half inch margin on the right side of each page and one inch margins on the top, bottom, and left sides of each page
• Page header will include your name and the date of submission
