OB “In the News” - Written Assignment (5 pages)

Analyze and critique a current event in the news from an organizational behavior perspective. 

In addition to the grading guidelines above, evaluation will be based on:

·      Critically analyze the issues presented in the story from an organizational behavior perspective drawing from distinctions from the course. 

·      Apply the course concepts (both readings and discussions) to the contents of the article.  Do not use the article as a backdrop to just explain a particular course concept (your book and assigned readings cover that).

·      Offer a strategy for how to proceed or manage the problem/dilemma posed in the story.  If the story offers a strategy or tactics, evaluate the pros and cons of this path.

·      At the end of the paper, include a link to the article used and include the questions you will ask during your presentation. This paper should be able to stand on its own and not merely be a transcript of the presentation. 

The point of the assignment is to see how well you can apply the concepts from the class to a particular topic in current events.

3. Perceived organizational support

4. Employee engagement

5. Coercive power (Factory empolyer)

6. Conflict

7. Communication (Downward communication, upward communication, cultual barrier, global implication)

The papers must be typed (12 point font) in Times New Roman Font; double-spaced (unless otherwise noted), with one inch margins, and printed on 8.5 x 11 inch paper.
