You have deployed fighter jets to surround the plane, and whoever is flying it refuses to acknowledge the command to turn around. Your military commanders are advising you to shoot down the plane—an act that would kill the 353 people aboard. What would you do? Would your answer be any different if it were heading toward the Statue of Liberty? Toward an athletic stadium filled to capacity?
