Essay Prompts – Causes and Effects of the Digital Divide This short (2-3 pages) essay shall compile, compare, and/or contrast information presented in newspaper articles, magazine articles, published reports, etc. about an aspect of the Digital Divide. A minimum of two, and a maximum of four, sources should be referenced. The essay can look at one of the following: * How does one or more of Geography/Income/Education/Age/Ethnicity contribute to the Digital Divide? * How does the Digital Divide reveal itself in educational outcomes? * How does the Digital Divide reveal itself in lack of economic mobility (that is, the ability of people to move upward within the socio-economic classes of our society)? * How does the United States' approach to bridging the Digital Divide contrast with the approach of other countries, and how do the results of those efforts compare?

Technical Details: This short essay will be 2 to 3 pages of printed double-spaced 12-point text in a font usually used for essays (no crazy fonts!). Please format using paragraph indentations. Footnotes are NOT required, but are not discouraged. A brief bibliography at the end (2 or more sources) is required. Cite at least two sources – online publications are OK, including those in assigned readings in the course, or your own. Be wary of citing individuals' blog posts unless they in turn cite other sources to support their cases.
