Ear       Experiences with Cultural Differences: This introductory activity is useful for helping students explore their initial experiences with diversity. Write a one-page essay about your recollection of the first time you were aware of meeting someone who was different from yourself. The difference could have been based on culture, ethnicity, physical disability, religion, or economic class. In your essay, please answer these questions:

a.       How did you meet the person? What were the circumstances?

b.      What made you aware that this person was different?

c.       How did you react?

d.      Was the interaction positive, negative, or neutral?

e.       Did you tell anyone about the interaction, and how did that person react?

f.       How has this first interaction affected future interactions with persons from the same group?
