You will need to select a criminal justice topic about which you have not previously written about before in another course at Shorter or another institution or for another organization. You will create a thesis statement that states the subject matter of the research paper—final and an outline that will provide a detailed blueprint for the paper. The thesis statement must be no more than two sentences.

Most sociologists clearly believe that poverty is primarily a result of social forces, while most Americans explain poverty as a result of personal inadequacies among the poor. Why do you think this is the case? What sorts of solutions to the problem of poverty follow logically for each position.
