Your initial discussion thread is due on Day 3 (Thursday) and you have until Day 7 (Monday) to respond to your classmates. Your grade will reflect both the quality of your initial post and the depth of your responses. 

Many factors combine to determine the ultimate success or failure of a new venture.  Identify three factors that support the successful development of a new venture and three factors that may serve as barriers to new venture development. Respond to two of your classmates’ postings.

Think of two of the most frustrating experiences you have experienced lately as a consumer.  What would it take to eliminate that experience?  Is this the beginnings of a business idea?  Respond to two of your classmates’ postings and in your responses, reflect on the ideas they have given and note which ones you would pay a business to offer.

Personal Assessment

In a two- to three-page paper, not including the title and reference pages, address the following:

• Assess whether you are prepared to operate as an entrepreneur and identify those factors in your personality, business skills, and lifestyle preferences that would support your entrepreneurial efforts. Be honest in your assessment of your skills and abilities.
• Analyze your comfort level with risk and present mitigating strategies.
• Categorize the important factors to consider in terms of business acumen and list and define the top three priorities when beginning your process.
• Explain the motivation to continue moving forward with your business plans. Include examples of motivating factors.
• Describe your business experiences and provide historical context and examples.

Your paper must include a cover page that includes the following:

• Student’s name
• Course name and number
• Title of paper
• Instructor’s name
• Date submitted 

In addition to the textbook, use two scholarly sources to support key points. Your paper should be formatted in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.
