Summarize a specific research study that does not describe or name a theory or conceptual framework that guided the study. What consequences, if any, do you see from the absence of a guiding framework or theory?

In the second thread this week we will discuss the role of nursing theory in research. Theory and research are intricately intertwined. Research builds knowledge, and tests the appropriateness of existing theory. Theory provides a framework for the systematic inquiry in the research process. The product of research may provide additional knowledge to build on theory.
