Discussion: State Practice Agreements

This week you will have an opportunity to evaluate state practice agreements in your state and examine issues related to NP practice.

To prepare:

·        Review practice agreements in your state (OHIO)

·        Identify at least two physician collaboration issues in your state (billing at 100 % requires that the physician assess the patient first, and physician must provide direct supervision for the NPs first 500 hours of prescribing of medications)

By Day 3

Post 

1.     a brief description of the practice agreements for NPs in your state and the two physician collaboration issues that you identified. See above

2.      Explain what you think are the barriers to NPs practicing independently in your state. (Barriers are, billing issues, requirement for physician supervision, trust in the community) please support each barrier above with a reference.

3.     Finally, outline a plan for how you might address NP practice issues in your state. (OHIO)
