Assignment 1: Cyberbullying

Social media has made cyberbullying easier than ever. Prior to the Internet, bullying typically occurred in face-to-face settings. However, with the proliferation of the Internet and other online communication and social media outlets, bullying can follow someone around-the-clock. In particular, children in school settings are prime victims of cyberbullying from their classmates.

Tasks:

• Why do you believe that cyberbullying is such an issue?
• What can be done to help reduce or eliminate cyberbullying in schools?
• Find a recent article in which a school-aged child or teen was the subject of cyberbullying. How did it affect the student? What were the consequences for the cyberbully(ies)?
• Support your statements with appropriate examples and scholarly references.

By Saturday, January 14, 2017, in a minimum of 250 words, post your response to the Discussion Area. Through Wednesday, January 18, 2017, review and comment on at least two of your classmates' responses. Consider the following in your response:

• Provide a statement of clarification or a point of view with rationale.
• Challenge a point of discussion or draw a relationship between one or more points of the discussion.
