Course Project 1 - Introduction and Lesson 1 Project Task

For your Course Project, you will creating a Video Library. Don’t panic, it’s easier than you think! Your Course Project will allow you to explore the Internet on your own, locating, viewing, and writing short reviews about videos dealing with "computer basics" topics of interest. In other words, areas that you would like to learn more about, beyond what is contained in your text. The Internet literally has millions of short videos (many of them on You Tube) about every computer topic imaginable. Some are very basic; some can be very complex, based on your level of expertise coming into this course. See two examples of "basics" videos at the links below:

These are just samples; it's up to you to develop your own video library as your Course Project. What does that include you may be wondering?

Here's how your Course Project breaks down over Lessons 1-5:

Lesson 1 - Find and view three helpful videos to learn more about subjects covered in Chapters 1 and 2 of your textbook. Then, write a short review (200-250 words) about what you learned and how it was presented. Submit your video links and reviews to your instructor so that you can get feedback to let you know you are on the right track in terms of your project. These videos and reviews will be the first three items in your Video Library Course Project.

Lesson 2 - Find and view three videos to learn more about subjects covered in Chapter 3. Review them the same way as described in Lesson 1 instructions above and submit to your instructor for more feedback. Remember, you are in the process of building your complete Video Library Course Project in segments, three videos and short reviews at a time.

Lesson 3 - Find and view your last three helpful videos, using topics you would like to learn more about based on the contents of Chapter 4. If you wish, you may read ahead to include videos about topics you want to know more about based on content in Chapters 5-9. Review them the same way.

In addition, now it is time compile all your videos and reviews from Lesson 1, 2, and 3 as a Word document that is well-organized and contains links to each video along with your review. You can arrange them in any way that you think will be helpful to another person. Think of your Video Library Course Project as a way to inform others about computer topics presented in this course.

Lesson 4 - You will submit your Project document (as described in Lesson 3) for Peer Review.

Lesson 5 – Based on suggestions/comments a classmate offered to you in the Peer Review process, this would be the time to make any slight adjustments to your Course Project that you think will improve it before submission to your instructor for final evaluation.

For Lessons 4 and 5, you will consolidate your individual Course Project assignments (from Lessons 1 - 3) into one MS Word file and save on your hard drive or other storage device. Then upload the file into the submission box.

For This Assignment:

Lesson 1 - Find and view three helpful videos to learn more about subjects covered in Chapters 1 and 2 of your textbook. Then, write a short review (200-250 words) about what you learned and how it was presented. Submit your video links and reviews to your instructor so that you can get feedback to let you know you are on the right track in terms of your project. These videos and reviews will be the first three items in your Video Library Course Project.

Course Project 2 - More Videos for Your Library

Building on what you started in Lesson 1, it's time to explore three new topics that you want to know more about based on subjects covered in Chapter 3. Please select your next three topics, research for three videos, and write three more short reviews. By the end of this lesson you will have found and reviewed six of the nine videos that will comprise your Video Library. Take the time to outline their order in your final project and submit that order outline, along with your three new videos and reviews. Think of the outline as the roadmapfor the appearance of your final project.

Course Project 3 - The Last Three Videos

Now that you have found and reviewed six helpful and informative videos based on your efforts in Lesson 1 and 2, it's time for the last three, based on topics from Chapter 4 (or other chapters if you prefer to read ahead). By the end of this lesson you will have found and reviewed all nine videos that will comprise your Video Library. Take the time to review your final layout and your written reviews.

This should be the time for finalizing your project, because in Lesson 4 you will submit it to your classmates for Peer Review. Check out those Peer Review questions (see Lesson 4) before you submit your document for some last check points on the work you have done up to this point. Keep up the good work!

Please submit your three new videos for this lesson, along with the short reviews of each to your instructor. Make sure to include the actual links with your assessments, the same as in Lesson 1.

In addition, submit the outline (or order) for the six videos you have selected thus far. If you have already decided on the last three that you will present in Lesson 3, you may include those in your outline as well. It does not have to be your final list in case you change your mind as to which videos will be your final three. Your instructor will give you feedback on your assignment to make sure that you are still heading in the right direction. Keep up the good work!
