NEED DONE IN 2 HOURS EASY WORK

Prepare: As important as it is in our society to be connected, it is not until we “disconnect” that we see the true picture of our media use and the implications of it. For the past two weeks you have been asked to connect and explore. This week, you are being asked to disconnect from media for a period of at least 3 consecutive days. Here are the disconnect options:

The digital disconnect applies to any media use that is not related to your job or your classes at Ashford University. The preparation for this exercise is purely mental!

To prepare for this exercise, you will need to inform family and friends that everything is okay but that they will not see you on social media for a few days. You will also need to notify everyone that you will not be responding via text messages, instant messages, or emails during this time that are either not of a business nature or related to class. Yes, people will need to talk to you, but you will use the trusty, old telephone or face-to-face communication. I suggest designating one person to receive any emergency messages for you as we know life does go on even if we are somewhat disconnected. This disconnect also applies to television, movies, and video games so you will have to find something else to occupy your time.

Reflect IconReflect: As you go about your life on the three days without media, you may very well experience symptoms of withdrawal or you may feel “disconnected.” Choose three adjectives to describe those feelings and use them as your platform to reflect on how dependent you have become on digital media to stay connected with others. Consider the positive and the negative aspects of disconnecting from digital media.

Write IconWrite: After you have discovered who you are apart from digital and social media, write a 250- to 300-word blog post about your overall experience. Consider how not being connected impacted your daily activities. Share with your peers how many times you almost connected out of mere habit. Include a byline at the beginning of your blog post. At the end of your blog, include a full reference for all sources cited in the body of your blog. All citations and references must adhere to APA style guidelines as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. View the Formatting Stories and Blogsdocument for assistance with formatting your blog.

Check It! Your blog must be submitted through Grammarly prior to submission.

Discuss IconRespond to Peers: After you have written your blog, read the blogs of your peers, and post a comment to at least three other bloggers about their experiences in disconnecting from social media. Your comments should address them by name, be between 100 and 150 words in length, and you must include your name at the end of each response.
