        In your opinion, whose fault is what happened in Fences? Who caused the events, and

how could they have been avoided?

2.         Pick a character that you identify with in one of the stories or poems we've read and

explain why you relate to him or her.

3.         Write a character sketch of someone you know.

4.         Write about something that happened to you from the point of view of

someone else, in that person's "voice."

5.         Choose a story or poem that reminds you of something that happened to you

or someone you know, and tell the story of what it reminds you of. The following

assignments should not be completed until afterWeekend One.

6.         Explain why you chose the author you are researching. What does he or she mean to

you?

7.         Read something your author wrote that we have not discussed in class and explain what

you think it means.

8.         Write a letter to the public explaining why people should read poetry. Use specific

poems as examples.

9.         Create a magazine advertisement for a specific poem. Be sure to use both words and

graphics.

10.       Is there any poem that made you feel something really positive or negative? Write a

letter to the author explaining your feelings.

11.       Write your own poems without using rhyme and meter. (Minimum: twofull pages of

them.)
