Write a short essay about a composer of your choice in the Impressionism or Expressionism genre. Your paper should be two to three pages in length, and provide the following information;

 

  • A brief biography of the Composer's life, including their education and major influences.
  • A listing of their musical masterpieces 
  • Include a quotation, either by your composer, or about your composer, that describes the composer and his/her music. Explain what the quote might refer to.
  • Choose one of their most notable pieces of music and write a description of it.  What attributes can you hear that make it Impressionistic or Expressionistic?. Focus the emphasis of your essay on the music.
