Molecular Model Bondings

profilecjaylan0

We can "construct" molecular models by representing the different atoms of a molecule along with the different "bonds" (number of bonds) that connect between each atom.

Some of the molecular bonding rules that apply include the number of bonds that the different atoms form.

Atom -- Symbol -- Number of Bonds

Hydrogen -- H -- 1
Carbon -- C -- 4
Nitrogen -- N -- 3
Oxygen -- O -- 2
Chlorine -- Cl -- 1

Based on the above bonding rules, for the following molecules, draw or describe the molecular structures:

Hydrogen gas (H2)
Oxygen gas (O2)
Nitrogen gas (N2)
Ozone (O3)
Water (H2O)
Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
Methane (CH4)
Acetylene (C2H2)
Benzene (C6H6)
