Module 1 Discussion: PM Interview Questions

Post your initial response no later than Thursday for full credit. Post your three peer responses no later than Sunday for full credit. Additional consideration is given to discussion threads that result in an exchange between individuals and not just obligatory responses!

Here is your 1st Discussion Board assignment.  The rest of us will have two goals as we read your initial post:

1. We’ll find out more about your project management experience, and
   
2. We’ll "interview" you in a way that will be of some help as project teams are formed, each of which will work together to manage a common project for the remainder of the quarter.

To help us meet these goals, answer three questions in your initial post, one paragraph for each answer. See calendar for due dates.

1. “How much experience have you already had in project management?  Tell us about it.”  (Planning and executing a party counts.  Building an interstate bridge counts.  Putting on a wedding really counts.  You get the idea.)
2. The remaining two questions come from a question list that you will find attached titled, "PM Interview Questions." (PM Interview Questions.doc)  Here’s how to decide which two questions from that list are yours:

• Look at the last digit of your CWU student ID number.  (For example, if Jack is student 23046495, then the digit Jack is looking at is 5.) 
• Now go through the interview question list and select any two questions whose numbers end in that same digit.  (Jack decides to answer questions 5 and 35.)  this is the two qustions:
• 10. In what types of situations is it best to abandon loyalty to your manager? 
• 20. Describe an ideal job for you. 
• Type each question out before you answer it.

You can begin posting responses any time.  Post one response to each of three classmates. 

Your job this week is not to compliment them, although you can if you want.  But the objective is to dig in further on something they said, and ask them a question, just as a business interviewer would.  Was there something they said that needs to be clarified?  Is there something their post makes you wonder about?  Is there just another question you’d like to ask them?  You are trying to find out whether you want to hire this person to help manage an upcoming project.

As you receive responses, go ahead and post your follow-up to each of them.  If you need clarification on a question, go ahead and ask a question right back.  The more discussion the better we get to know each other.
