for class on October 7 along with your own personal opinion to write an essay in which you do

two things:

1) Introduce the text you chose and define the genre that it comes from

2) Discuss your personal experience and opinion of the genre to decide whether or not the

text can be used in a university setting

a) Consider why you would think that genre cannot be used/useful ­ what is the

“standard” way of thinking about that genre and/or its purpose? i.e. is it often used

to entertain or to educate?
