Format: Literary Analysis… Use Times New Roman font, size 12, double spaced, MLA format, and include a Works Cited page.

You will produce a precise, cohesive, and rational mini seminar paper 4 FULL pages minimum 5 1/2 pages maximum in length, typed and double-spaced. Anything less will receive an automatic 5 point deduction (more if there is a total disregard for page requirements.)--Oh, and the work cited page does not count as one of the required pages.--(5 pages is the ‘acceptable minimum.’  However, you must write until you feel you have constructed a well thought out and well supported argument.)

Sources and Research: The paper will include a minimum of 4 sources (this includes the primary source), so, in actuality, you only need to look for 3 outside sources. You can only use journals, magazines, and or a book. (Academic Search Complete, JSTOR, Netlibrary, ProjectMuse)—Look for current sources. Don’t rely on articles written B.C.

Quotes: While I expect you to quote from your primary source, you will have to quote at least twice from your outside source.  NO BLOCK QUOTES ALLOWED! KEEP ALL QUOTES UNDER 3 LINES (OR LESS).

Don’t: Do not spend your time cutting and pasting! DON’T MAKE THIS A PERSONAL ISSUE PAPER. REFRAIN FROM USING 1ST PERSON TO MAKE YOUR ARGUMENT.   Plagiarism is not an option! Do your own work! Essays will be uploaded onto SafeAssign.  A hardcopy of the essay does not need to be turned in! Don’t pull from sources/articles found through a seemingly thorough search of Goggle, Yahoo, Metacrawler, etc.
