This week's discussion deals with the evolution of Managerial Accounting/Cost Accounting.
We must remember that we account for an operation; accounting does not exist by itself, the same way non-accountants in an organization cannot ignore accounting. The operation is symbiotic among its functions of Sales/Marketing, Production Operations Management, and Finance/Accounting.
Much has changed over the last 130 years, or over the American Industrial Revolution. That is also true of the nature of managerial accounting.
This week’s discussion centers on that change, that evolutionary process. Please post your thoughts following the rules of discussion. As this is a graduate course, most points would apply for research and posting of an academic or professional article (not common publications such as WSJ or Business Week).
