A Matter of Opinion Being Requested...
jvcapmIt would appear that most cite the same baisc purpose of any operating system. The various answers are all essentially on point and give the broadest possible purpose of a computers operating system. The operating system is the overall framework that allows a user to communicate with a computer system's hardware interactively.
Without the operating system, how would a user be able to instruct the system to do anything?
The operating system is essential to any computing system that requires a technology to interface between a user and some other part of the system (i.e., application, device, etc.). Would you agree with this statement? If so, provide an example of a system where an operating system is not required for the system to function?
