Management paper

you need to identify and write about a current business news event that illustrates some of the concepts covered in the course to date with a major emphasis on concepts covered since the last write-up was due.

While it is preferable that you draw on the most recent events, the event you choose to discuss can occur any time after October 1, 2015. A recently published article does not automatically constitute a news event – e.g., you should not select “how to” articles (viz., those that offer advice). Interviews are only appropriate if they relate to a current event, with the event being the focus.

You should read about the news event from a number of sources to get an in-depth perspective. Your analysis should be based on a minimum of four (4) articles about that event. Articles can be from any major periodical (e.g., Business Week, The Economist, and Fortune) or newspaper (e.g., Investor’s Business Daily, the New York Times, and the Wall Street Journal).

Written summaries should include a Description of the situation, a clearly articulated Connection to Management Concepts, Takeaways/lessons learned, and References. You should draw upon a number of management concepts in your analysis of the event. These concepts should relate to topics covered in at least two different chapters. Takeaways should go beyond the current situation/organization. You should reflect upon the management lessons you have learned, which you can apply to your professional life in the future.

Your work should be a professionally presented Word document minimally two (2) pages. In terms of formatting, written summaries should be single-spaced with double spacing between paragraphs. The font should be 12-point Times New Roman. Margins should be 1 inch around. The write-up should be titled. Your name and the due date should appear on the first page and be right justified. The management concepts that you draw upon should be italicized in the Connection to Management Concepts section. All four sections should be clearly

delineated with bolded headings. You will be penalized for grammatical, spelling and other errors.
