Macroeconomics essay
ECO 2013 Term Paper Guidelines
Your term paper should consist of a minimum of 1250 words, exclusive of bibliography, title pages, etc., and is to be turned in to the Blackboard Assignment dropboxas an attached Word document (.doc or .docxformat) no later than the beginning of the class it is due, with the subject “(LastName), Term Paper”.You are also required to turn in a hard copy at the beginning of the class it is due.
The topic is to be any macroeconomic topic of your choosing. (GDP, Unemployment, Tax Issues, Fiscal Policy, Monetary Policy, etc.) If you have any doubts about your topic, please speak with me. Your assignment is to locate three (3) recent (within the past 18 months), substantial articles from business/economic periodicals* (not blogs or websites) that all deal with the same general topic and its current status/threats/opportunities. Your paper will consist of four sections, each of which should be clearly labeled in the paper.
· Introduction
· Summary of Article 1
· Summary of Article 2
· Summary of Article 3
· Conclusion (summarizing your thoughts on the issue.)
You also need to provide clear citations of the three articles and any other sources you use on a Works Cited or Bibliography page, in alphabetical order by primary author, in a numbered list. Additionally, please put all direct quotes from another source in quotation marks, followed by a number in parentheses that correlates to the source in your Bibliography.
All three articles should relate to the same topic. They can represent differing or concurrent viewpoints or illustrate a progression of thoughts/events, chronological or other theme.
While no particular style is required (APA, MLA, etc.), you must clearly identify all sources and specifically attribute quotations as mentioned above. The paper should be free of errors, display college level writing and be your own creation, except as cited. Please use 12 pt fonts, and double-space.
If I have to correct basic writing/grammar on a consistent basis, the paper will not be consideredas acceptable, regardless of content, intent, etc. (A good tip is to read the paper aloud to yourself or, even better, another person. If it doesn’t make sense to someone hearing it, it won’t make sense to me when I read it.)
Late submissions will lose 10% for every DAY late. No submissions will be accepted after the class has ended.
*Examples of accepted periodicals include: Business Week, Forbes, The Economist, Newsweek, Economic Review, Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Review and Time.
