Writing Assignment #1

 

Your assignment is to write a five paragraph expository paper

 

Topic: Renewable energy is a controversial topic. Some say that it is beneficial to the environment while others argue that there are still many obstacles to use renewable energy. Explain the pros and cons to the use of renewable energy.

 

 

 

This is an economics course so make sure use some of the terminology you have learned in the course. (i.e. trade-offs, opportunity cost, incentives, cost/benefit, rationality etc.)

 

The body of your paper should be between 2-3 pages.

 

Your assignment must be typed double spaced. (APA Format)

 

Failure to follow APA format will result in a 10% reduction in your score

 

 One inch margins all around the page.

 

 Font 12, Times New Roman or Arial ONLY.

 

You must have a Cover Page and a References page as requested in APA (abstract is optional)

 

Only use resources from the opposing viewpoints database. A severe penalty will be assessed if resources outside of MDC databases are used.

 

You will turn in your assignment on blackboard. When you log into blackboard click on writing assignments then click the writing assignment folder. You will click the view/complete to turn in your assignment.

 

Due Dates and Grades:

 

 Outline due: Wednesday February 3

rd (10% of your score on the writing assignment)

 

 1st Draft due February 10

th by midnight via blackboard

 

 Peer Review due February 17

nd by midnight via blackboard (10% of your score on the writing assignment)
