Of all the wars in which New Jersey’s residents have been involved, the American Revolution had the greatest direct impact on its territory. The state, sometimes labeled as the “crucible,” “crossroads,” and “cockpit” of the Revolution, was in the middle of the fighting for seven out of the eight long years of this war. In many places the Revolutionary War was also a bitter civil war pitting neighbors, former friends, and relatives against one another. Please explain your opinion.
