The organizational structure of hotels may vary based upon the size of an establishment. Understanding the labor needs of these organizations will vary based upon many variables. However, the major functional departments of particular types of hotel operations are generally the same. As a hospitality manager, it is a highly desirable skill set to have the ability to develop organizational charts.

In Microsoft Word, develop an organizational chart of the major functional areas for a large, full service hotel. Write a paragraph explaining the organizational structure of the hotel and discuss why the major functional areas have become a best practice in the hotel industry. List and provide a brief description of the duties and responsibilities of the managers for each major functional area.

Checklist:

·     Explain the organizational structure of hospitality industry establishments.

·     Demonstrate an ability to develop an organizational structure diagram.

·     Describe each of the duties and responsibilities associated with each position.

At least 2 pages not including reference and title.
