Literature writing assignment based on Self, Nature, others and God. The requirement is to wright not less than 2 pages and to cite not less than FOUR citations on the paper from the books that we have in class

Final Writing Assignment based on The Sparrow: A Job Description for God

In this final writing assignment, you will compose a three-pronged job description for the position of God. In this assignment, you will continue to hone your attention to detail initiated in the composition of your Hieroglyphic Scrolls (Nature), your awareness of difference initiated in the composition of your Character Sketch (Other), and your understanding of the multiple aspects of identity initiated in the composition of your Character Analysis Essay (Self).

In your advertising for the position of Divine Being, the job description must address the following prompts:

 _What are the DUTIES and TASKS for the position of Divine Being? What does a Divine Being DO? For what is a Divine Being RESPONSIBLE?

 _HOW might the successful applicant fulfill these duties and tasks? What METHODS, TOOLS, and TECHNIQUES might the successful applicant employ to fulfill the duties and tasks of serving as a Divine Being?

 _What QUALIFICATIONS must the successful applicant possess? What SKILLS, KNOWLEDGES, ABILITIES, PHYSICAL DEMANDS might be required by the successful applicant?

To respond to these prompts, you must draw from our readings and discussions of Mary Doria Russell’s The Sparrow, highlighting aspects of the novel which resonate with these prompts. Keep in mind that you might disagree with what the novel offers in relation to these prompts. That’s fine. You may always draw upon that with which you disagree to refine your position by sharpening via the opposition .

You must also draw from at least one of our readings from each of the preceding sections of the course. This means that your Works Cited page will have at least FOUR citations on it – at least one from Self, one from Other, one from Nature, and one from God.

A possible starting point is to consider with which of the three prompts Self, Other, or Nature might connect with most directly. For example: Is some aspect of the Self connected with the Duties of a Divine Being? Is some aspect of Nature a Method that a successful applicant for Divine Being might have mastered? Another starting point is to go by the CECDC and read job descriptions to use as models.

Use at least three of the literary devices we have discussed over the course of the semester (e.g., metaphor, allusion, simile, apposition, etc) in your final job description.
