Literature homework

The responses of American artists to the rise of fascism in Europe and the beginning of World War II were varied.  Those who opposed the war engaged in intense debates over the function of images in the fight against fascism.  Discuss the nature of these debates and give examples of the different visual strategies (styles, content) used by artists in their anti-fascist art.
