Literary Dissection
Literary dissection is a way that you can break a piece of literature down into its components in order to gain a better understanding of how those parts make up the whole work.
Take a work of fiction that you have read and dissect it in a 1-2 page Word document:
- What is the story's central conflict?
- Summarize the story's plot.
- Describe the story's climax.
- How is the climax resolved and do you think it is an effective resolution?
- What is the central theme of the story?
- In what ways do the conflicts in the story contribute to the theme?
