Literacy and Reading

Please answer the following questions: Who taught you to read? How old were you? What was your initial experience with reading, positive or negative? What about latter school years? Did your perspectives on reading change as you got older (i.e. did it become more positive or more negative?). How do you think children are able to learn to read (just think of all it entails!)without feeling overwhelmed, environmental influences or inborn abilities?
